Jan Hussakowski received an award in the competition accompanying the 21st INTERPRERTATIONS 2022 for directing the best radio play of the Polish Radio Theater for directing the radio play “Suicide of Solitude”. We present the profile and achievements of the winner.
Jan Hussakowski graduated from the Acting Department of the PWST branch in Wrocław. During his studies, he was associated with the Institute. Jerzy Grotowski in Wrocław, where he made his debut in the play “Mauzer” by Heiner Muller, directed by Theodoros Terzopoulos. After obtaining an acting diploma, he was admitted to the Directing Department of the Theater Academy in Warsaw.
He made his debut with the play “Somehow it will be. “A show about robots” based on the work of computer algorithms (dramaturgy by Hubert Sulima) at the Theater. J. Słowacki in Krakow. Then he assisted as a director in the acting initiative “Joseph and Maria” by Peter Turrini at the Theater. W. Horzyca in Toruń. He also directed “The Hypnotist” by Vasily Sigariew at the Nowy Proxima Theater in Krakow, “Antigone in New York” by Janusz Głowacki at the Teatr im. J. Osterwa in Lublin, “The formula for the area of a triangle” by Michał Zdunik at the Nowy Theater in Słupsk or, for example, “Pornography” by Witold Gombrowicz at the Powszechny Theater in Radom, for the creation of which he had previously won a competition for young directors for a director’s explication.
For the play “Reality Show(s) Kabaret o terrible things” by Przemysław Pilarski at the Theater. J. Kochanowski in Opole, in turn, received an award at the m-teatr festival in Koszalin 2019. He was also an assistant to Eimuntas Nekrosius on his “The Wedding” by Witold Gombrowicz at the National Theater in Warsaw and Mariusz Treliński on “Halka” at the Grand Theater of the National Opera in Warsaw. Hussakowski’s latest performance is “Who is Mr. Schmitt?” Sébastien Thiéry at the Wybrzeże Theater in Gdańsk.
“Suicide of Loneliness” is his debut at the Polish Radio Theater.
